How to Create a Spa Bathroom

A spa bathroom is a space that makes you feel good the moment you step in. It's an environment where you can shrug off the cares of the world, relax completely and rejuvenate yourself.

Best of all, you don't have to spend a small fortune to create that space.

Here's how to do it.

4 Tips for Organizing Your Front Entry

With my small house I'm always looking to incorporate more storage and to organize things better.  My tiny front entry has no closet and neither does my mudroom.  Here are some of the ways I organized those spaces and maximized the storage potential.

1. Closet Organizer

Did you know that a closet organizer can double or triple the storage space of a closet?  And you don't even need a closet to install one!  Finding the right configuration is the key to success.  The best closet organizers are easy to assemble and switch around as your needs or the seasons change.   You can double your hanging space and incorporate shelves or drawers for things that can’t be hung up.

The organizer shown below is a Martha Stewart organizer.

DIY Shaker Bench

I've been feeling the itch to build something lately.  I moved the furniture around in my bedroom and with the extra space I created, it was time to build a Shaker bench for the foot of my bed.

Bathroom Dreams

Here I sit for the 2nd year in a row with a broken toe. Sigh... So what have I been doing instead of doing what I want to be doing? I've been dreaming of renovating my bathroom and collecting pictures of lovely spaces.  Now I do love my bathroom (except for that hideous orange tile), but it is a bit of a waste of space and the sliver of a window in there just does not do it for me.

Tips for a Carefree Road Trip #CanadianTire #QuakerState #CollectiveBias

Every year for the past 5 years, I’ve spent a week visiting my 92 year old mom who lives on the other side of the country. It’s the only chance we get to spend time together since my mom no longer travels. After 5 years of taking the same route, I’ve got my trip down to a fine art!

Puttering

It's almost the middle of August... I haven't spent much time doing anything of consequence.  I wound up having to have a lot of roofing replaced so my budget is gonzo.  I've been doing the jobs that I have materials on had for but they're yukky jobs so I've been putting them off - like laying new poly on the dirt floor in my crawl space (shudder!) and I have to get up in the attic to run new wires for ceiling fixtures (double shudder!).  This past weekend  I restrung my clothesline and then the smoke from all the wildfires began moving into our region. UGH. Not hanging anything outside when it's this smoky!!
